2009 PSLE Maths Paper:

This year's maths paper was unbelievably hard. Despite that, MOE reported that "this year’s paper was "comparable" to those of previous years. There is no change in syllabus, question types or number of questions." I only learnt this in secondary school... zzz

The fact that we, tertiary-level students, can't solve this question MENTALLY justifies that it's extremely tough for Primary 6 students.

The question is as follows:

"Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim. Jim ate 12 sweets and Ken ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Jim’s sweets to chocolates became 1:7 and the ratio of Ken’s sweets to chocolates became 1:4. How many sweets did Ken buy?"

The answer to the aforementioned would be 68. I wonder how many "A"s students are going to get the axe. Lets pray for moderation and their well-being. Best of luck.

Pre and post exams:

Well, as most of you were aware, my computer crashed and I was unable to submit 3 reports in time. I would like to thank wang cong, xujing, yongxiang, weiloon, weehao for allowing me to refer to their reports to make the former possible. In addition, i would like to thank eezzat for staying back to help me work on the 10 datasheets. Also, a zillion "thank yous" to mr lau and ms hoe for extending the submission deadline.

Chalet:

The chalet was absolutely enjoyable until a certain bragging, lying, rude, disrespectful, unappreciative, ostentatious charlatan "annihilated" my whole BBQ night.

That aside, I would like to show my appreciation to these people:

- WC, WH and WL for helping me out in the kitchen
- XJ, felicia and sotong for taking over us.
- Mr Kong, Gary and Joseph (Sotong's bf) for forking out money from their own pockets, taking into account we way exceeded our budget.
- the organizing committee for their planning

However since the school is so big with 3 hr duration, let set some rules to make it simple
1, Only catcher can sprint, hider can only like run( which mean when catcher is too near u default catch, no need really touch)

2. hider that get catch must sms to inform he is now a catcher. that mean if u r a noob and got catch early, the more u waste sms!!!

3. every 15min, hider must at least sent one sms to one of the seeker(do not lie or cheat, it will spoilt the fun that all), to inform where u are.
E.g i am at t15-7xx. u cant find me haha!
4. hider can share the infor with anyone

5. Since the exam are still going around, try to minimise ur noise - running speed, shouting, blah blah, blah.

Dear Class,

Let's make some early preparations for the december holidays. I am aware that zul is extremely keen towards having a laser-quest "competition" at CDANS. I do have the membership card, so I suggest booking early in order to get the dates we want.

On the other hand, we can have gary make arrangements for a challet at aloha loyang, etc etc. I proposed having the challet on the 1st weeek of the school holidays, preferably the preceeding sat and sundays, when the malaysians are still around.

Well, at this point of time, the malaysians can finally get to play tennis with me...

Dear Class,

The chalet is canceled since both me and Gary were unable to find any available slots for weekends. However, if you would like to organise another outing, eg Steamboat (Halal)- NO MORE BBQ!, I'll try to contact Muxing and see what we can come out with.

And if you people would like a chalet the next coming holiday (6 Dec to 28 Dec), we'll have to start planning and booking now since it clashes with the school holidays where vacancies are scarce.

Also, charges will be based on the "Super Peak Rates" (ie more costly). I can book Home Team NS and Gary can book Aloha Loyang. I personally prefer Loyang because of the facilities but the price will be higher per night ($200 vs $100).

In the meantime, I'll be awaiting your replies and SUGGESTIONS pertaining to the class outing. Have a pleasant holiday ahead.

actually... just wanna say that we have 'more' time now, depending on what you're doing during the holidays. so if the class still wants to have a class tee, we can all participate by submitting a few designs. then we can have a poll.

i know the class tee thing has been delayed for quite long. but no one is to be blamed. i think everyone shares the fault. though there were people who took the initiative to come up with designs, we lacked co-operation and so we didnt succeed... so if we all want a class tee, we should make full use of the holidays!

This is what we will be in for the next semester:

1) Analytical & physical chemistry
2) Applied electricity & electronics

4) CEP A
5) Critical reasoning skills
6) Materials in practice
7) GEM

As you can see, it's a pretty relaxed schedule, so you may want to sign up for the foreign language programme. They are offering a 2-classes-per-week (2hrs per lesson, 5.30-7.30pm) option at the moment so that you will be able to catch up with the current batch, my batch.

For those w/o CCA, you may opt for the 3.30-5.30pm class on Wednesday. If not, you may stick to the 2hrs-per-week schedule. Fees would be in the region of 400 bucks, inclusive of textbooks (for my course).You will receive 4 CCA POINTS per year if you pass the exams.

Choices include Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, Malay, Chinese and French. If I'm not mistaken, the closing date for application would be 29 September 2008, the day after our CEPB exams. Kindly log on to SP website for details.

German would be useful in the field of chemical engineering should you be interested in working abroad, Japanese too. As for Zul, please take up chinese to play mahjong.

Dear class,

I've discovered that you'll be able to run the maths cad programme anywhere by "borrowing" the license from SP.

Procedures are as follows:-

1) Run Maths Cad.
2) Go to tools/borrow/license.
3) Select the year of borrow. 2 & 3 yrs don't work, so i tried 1 yr with effect from today, which ultimately worked.
4) The above can only be done in SP.
5) With that, you may run the programme at home, or anywhere else you deem fit.

Change in Date for Meiji Plant Visit
Dear DCHE students,
If you have already signed up for the 4 July Meiji plant visit, please note that the date has been changed to 11 July, Week 13, Fri.
Please confirm with your class tutors or Fhaizal (dchexpresso@live.com) whether you can still make it on the new date. Please do so before 6 Jun, Fri, 5pm.
If you cancel your registration before 6 Jun, you will not be penalised. If we do not hear from you by then, it is automatically assumed that you are going for the visit on 11 July. Any subsequent cancellation after 6 Jun will be penalised, unless you have valid reasons.
Time of the visit is still from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Transportation will be provided.

To my fellow classmate, please take note that I will be organising a class outing on the 16th of june. Its a monday that lies on the last week of our holi.. It will be a simple class bbq n I hope that everyone can turn up.. Those who cant,please inform me..The date maybe changed so if can,I hope you all could confirm with me a-sap. In addtion, I will tell wangchong to collect class fund for this outing. I think that it is better to leave the money given by the school till the EOS break so that we can save more for a chalet..
